{"id":347900,"date":"2026-07-21T23:03:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T23:03:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/347900\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T23:03:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T23:03:11","slug":"new-report-indicates-its-now-pricier-to-live-in-miami-than-new-york-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/347900\/","title":{"rendered":"New report indicates it\u2019s now pricier to live in Miami than New York City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0July 21, 2026 at 4:48 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI \u2014 For decades now, New Yorkers have fled to South Florida, not just for the sunshine but for other perks like spacious homes and no state income tax.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">More recently though, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/features\/2026-07-20\/miami-s-metro-area-is-now-more-expensive-than-new-york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/features\/2026-07-20\/miami-s-metro-area-is-now-more-expensive-than-new-york\">Bloomberg\u2019s latest dive into the topic<\/a> cites research claiming for the first time on record, the Miami area is pricier than the Big Apple, saying South Florida\u2019s consumer price index has jumped 36% since 2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cCost of living is going up everywhere and the New Yorkers are coming down here, so I guess it is what it is,\u201d said South Florida resident Robert Nordling. \u201cThe cost of living, the cost of anything from sandwiches to gas, it\u2019s up one day, down the next. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It\u2019s hard not to notice that many things are more expensive now than in 2019, no matter where you live.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cAnd it\u2019s only gonna keep climbing from here,\u201d said Miami resident Mario Torres. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Bloomberg piece goes on to say Miami\u2019s private-school tuition, insurance costs and how much people are spending at restaurants are higher now than they were a year ago. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">So what does all of this mean? Will people start choosing New York over Miami? <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cAlways an appeal here, everybody wants to be in Miami,\u201d said Nordling. \u201cNew York and Miami.
