MIAMI, AZ (AZFamily) \u2014 Monsoon storms flooded low-water crossings and cut off rural communities near Miami on Tuesday, as a funnel cloud was spotted in the sky over the Globe-Miami area. No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
Rising creek levels pushed water over low-water crossings, blocking access between several rural communities along U.S. 60 and the town of Miami. At least one resident said he had to cross a flooded creek on foot after his vehicle was left stranded on the other side.<\/p>\n
Resident describes being cut off<\/p>\n
Jacob, a resident of one of the affected communities, said he walked across the flooded crossing hoping to find a ride or walk into town.<\/p>\n
\u201cVehicle-wise, as you can see, I just had to walk across and hope I can get a ride or walk into town,\u201d Jacob said. \u201cIf y\u2019all need anything you have to go out on foot, yeah, or call a friend to pick stuff up. We\u2019re not that far out of town.\u201d<\/p>\n
Funnel cloud, ATV swept away<\/p>\n
Viewer video submitted to Arizona\u2019s Family showed a funnel cloud over the Globe-Miami area. The funnel cloud did not touch down and was not classified as a tornado.<\/p>\n
Viewer video also showed an ATV flipped over and washed downstream in the creek. No injuries connected to the ATV were reported, and it may have been parked too close to the water.<\/p>\n
Creek levels down from last year\u2019s flooding<\/p>\n
By evening, the creek had receded from its earlier peak, though it remained flowing. The water levels did not approach those seen during last year\u2019s deadly flooding in the Globe-Miami area.<\/p>\n
The flooding comes after FEMA denied the area an emergency declaration<\/a> related to that deadly flooding last year.
