\ud83c\udfc6 Residential: The most expensive home sale to hit records was in Miami Beach, where a company tied to Dana M. Kilburn bought the waterfront property at 288 South Coconut Lane on Palm Island for $18.5 million. The seller, 288 SC LLC, purchased the 9,100-square-foot property in 2024 for $22 million. The latest transaction breaks down to about $2,000 per square foot. Oliver Lloyd with Douglas Elliman had the listing, and Dina Goldentayer, also with Douglas Elliman, brought the buyer.<\/p>\n

\ud83c\udfc6 Commercial: Miami logged the priciest home sale recorded in South Florida. Soldiers of the Cross of Christ Church offloaded the apartment building at 628 Northwest First Street for $12 million. The buyer was Bluevis LLC. The two-story complex dates to 1999 and has 11 apartments across about 17,200 square feet.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udcca Residential: In West Palm Beach, the home at 122 Bloomfield Drive hit records for $15.6 million. An LLC attached to Mark Marcello was the seller. Francis X. J. Lynch, trustee of the 122 Bloomfield Trust, was the buyer. This new build includes five bedrooms and seven and a half baths, measuring about 8,500 square feet. Margit Brandt with Premier Estate Properties had the listing. Lucy Bauer with Brown Harris Stevens brought the buyer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udcca Residential: Arthur Krantz bought the home at 7350 North East 8th Drive in Boca Raton for $13.5 million. Daniel F. McNeil III and his wife, Danielle L. McNeil, were the sellers. Spanning 9,100 square feet, the home has six bedrooms and over seven and a half baths. The Matt and Nick Team with Serhant handled the listing, and Jacqueline Feldman with Sotheby\u2019s brought the buyer.<\/p>\n

By the Numbers: South posts greatest mortgage rate drop amid cooling housing market<\/a><\/p>\n

Mortgage rates have climbed steadily for five months, but they\u2019re still below where they stood a year ago. Nowhere is that more apparent than in the South.<\/p>\n

On average, Southern states experienced a more than 2.2 percent decline in their average 30-year mortgage rate, according to a TRD Data analysis of 30-year mortgage rate data as of July 15, 2025 and July 16, 2026 from Investopedia. (Rates are for new purchase loans with a down payment of at least 20 percent and a credit score of 680-739.)<\/p>\n
