{"id":348963,"date":"2026-07-22T19:59:07","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T19:59:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/348963\/"},"modified":"2026-07-22T19:59:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T19:59:07","slug":"man-killed-in-crash-at-pompano-beach-bus-stop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/348963\/","title":{"rendered":"Man killed in crash at Pompano Beach bus stop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man died on Tuesday after he was hit by a car while at a bus stop in Pompano Beach, the Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n<p>Just before 1 p.m., a woman driving a 2024 BMW M240i south in the 500 block of South Federal Highway \u201cwas involved\u201d in a rear-end crash with a 2017 Honda Accord, drove around the Honda and continued heading south, the Sheriff\u2019s Office said in a news release Wednesday. The circumstances of that crash were not detailed in the news release.<\/p>\n<p>The BMW driver, identified as Jo Anne Llera, 47, then reached the <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/MSfpDZerjBhPkn5o6\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">900 block of South Federal Highway<\/a> and swerved into a swale on the side of the road, hitting a covered Broward County bus bench where the man had been either sitting or standing, the Sheriff\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n<p>After hitting the bus stop, Llera then crashed into two light poles, a tree and multiple empty cars that were parked in the lot of a car dealership nearby, damaging nine cars there, the news release said. Debris from the impact also hit a 2010 Lincoln Town Car as it was traveling on South Federal Highway.<\/p>\n<p>The man was pronounced dead at the bus stop, the Sheriff\u2019s Office said. His name has not been released.<\/p>\n<p>Pompano Beach Fire Rescue took Llera to Broward Health North.
