UPSHOT League sets inaugural championship game in Jacksonville<\/p>\n

Savannah Steel with about a month left to make a late-season push for a spot in the inaugural UPSHOT League championship.<\/p>\n

\"Amy<\/a>JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014<\/p>\n

The Savannah Steel have about a month to change the course of their inaugural season \u2014 and a chance to make history remains on the table.<\/p>\n

The UPSHOT League announced Wednesday that its first championship game will be played Aug. 29 at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville.<\/p>\n

The league\u2019s top two teams at the end of the regular season will meet for the inaugural championship, meaning there is no automatic playoff berth or postseason tournament. The announcement puts even more importance on the remaining regular-season games.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe championship will feature two teams that finish first and second in the Upshot League standings,\u201d league commissioner Donna Orender said. \u201cThat format changes the competitive landscape of the remainder of our season.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Steel currently sit at the bottom of the league standings with a 7-15 record after navigating injuries and roster turnover throughout the season.<\/p>\n

Savannah will now look to make a late-season push for a chance to play for the first Upshot League championship.<\/p>\n
