{"id":34970,"date":"2025-11-05T22:29:17","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T22:29:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/34970\/"},"modified":"2025-11-05T22:29:17","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T22:29:17","slug":"construction-now-underway-on-major-kennedy-blvd-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/34970\/","title":{"rendered":"Construction now underway on major Kennedy Blvd project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TAMPA, Fla. \u2014 Drivers and businesses on Kennedy Boulevard in Tampa may be dealing with some extra traffic delays over the next several months.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Florida Department of Transportation is now working on an improvement project there that has reduced lanes in a busy area, between Armenia and Willow avenues.<\/p>\n<p>What You Need To Know<\/p>\n<p>FDOT is now working on an improvement project that has reduced lanes between Armenia and Willow avenues<br \/>\n<br \/>It\u2019s for an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fdottampabay.com\/project\/784\/436489-1-52-01\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">improvement project<\/a> that includes repaving, updating curbs, sidewalks and replacing the drainage system<br \/>\n<br \/>The reduced lanes are set to be in place for the next six months<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s also where Buddy Brew opened its first location 15 years ago, where CEO Dave Ward is now preparing for some disruption in traffic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe loved the Kennedy location. We loved the building,\u201d Ward said.<\/p>\n<p>He said it\u2019s also been a great location due to the passing traffic in and out of downtown Tampa. However, it is now moving a bit different due to roadwork.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnytime there is construction in front of your business, it\u2019s going to impact your business,\u201d Ward said.<\/p>\n<p>But Ward also understands the roadwork is needed. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The construction is for an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fdottampabay.com\/project\/784\/436489-1-52-01\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">improvement project<\/a> that includes repaving, updating curbs, sidewalks and replacing the drainage system on that stretch of Kennedy Boulevard to relieve flooding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf drainage improves, that\u2019s big,&#8221; Ward said. &#8220;We have water coming into the building anytime there\u2019s pretty much a major rain event that happens. I think improving that drainage is going to go a long way to solving that problem.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The reduced lanes are set to be in place for the next six months. Work will be done in the south side of Kennedy while traffic is shifted to the north side.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll work our way through it.
