Hot and dry conditions persist on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Temperatures are expected to reach near-record highs of around 97 degrees in the metro area. <\/p>\n

Rain chances are forecast to increase over the next few days, returning to normal levels and possibly exceeding them over the weekend, which could help lower temperatures. <\/p>\n

The tropics remain quiet, except for Tropical Storm Bertha, which is moving toward Texas and is expected to bring a significant rain event to the area.<\/p>\n
