Designed by cinema palace architect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.historictheatrephotos.com\/Research\/John-Eberson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">John Eberson<\/a> in 1926, with \u201cTampa\u201d spelled in brilliant lights, the monumental sign continues to welcome film enthusiasts. In homage to Eberson and his landmark building, Cuban artist <a href=\"https:\/\/alexandrearrechea.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Alexandre Arrechea<\/a> created the sculpture \u201cTampa Theatre\u201d for the recently revitalized <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tampa.gov\/project\/pr-22017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Herman Massey Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-39987\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Alexandre-Arrecheas-Tampa-Theater-\u2013-Repeating-Islands.-05142026_2932_1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2324\" height=\"2560\"  \/>Arrechea\u2019s sculpture, with its vertical form and rounded edges, evokes the blade design of Eberson\u2019s decorative sign. In this artwork, Arrechea explores the relationship between community, history and architecture. He nestled familiar natural imagery in the curves of the sculpture, such as the blazing sun, crescent moon, crackling lightning and gusty wind. Viewer tip: if you stand in the right spot, you can see both Arrechea\u2019s sculpture and Eberson\u2019s original marquee.
