TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A normal day at home turned into an ambulance trip to the hospital for Todd Veasey a few weeks back. <\/p>\n
He was rushed to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital after experiencing stroke symptoms, receiving the needed treatment quick enough to secure a full recovery. <\/p>\n
Veasey returned to the hospital Thursday and invited WCTV cameras to tag along as he treated the unit that saved his life to some pastries and cupcakes. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really glad y\u2019all took the time to come see me today,\u201d he said. \u201cI just think it\u2019s really important that the nurses know that someone that they cared for has recovered fully. And that I still think about them and what they did for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Veasey said his mother was a nurse, so he knows first hand how difficult the job can be. <\/p>\n
\u201cI know it\u2019s easy to become jaded when you\u2019re looking at suffering all day long,\u201d he told the nurses. \u201cIt takes rare people that can reset every day and come back the next day refreshed and renewed and give that same level of care again.\u201d<\/p>\n
Veasey said he wants to make his appreciation trip to TMH an annual tradition. <\/p>\n
He also wants everyone to know the signs of stroke, and not to delay rushing to the hospital when they appear. <\/p>\n
