Shannon Stork told deputies on Wednesday that she and the victim, who deputies described as a \u201croommate\/partner,\u201d were experiencing \u201cpersonal issues\u201d before the fire at 5225 NW 29 Ave. <\/p>\n
Stork \u201cadmitted to trying to scare the victim by squeezing a bottle of isopropyl alcohol toward the victim, dousing the victim in the liquid, and holding a flame to the liquid and the victim\u2019s skin, causing the burn injuries to the victim,\u201d a Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office deputy wrote, according to the arrest report. <\/p>\n
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel took Stork and the victim, who suffered upper body burns, to Jackson Memorial Hospital\u2019s Ryder Trauma Center, according to the deputy\u2019s arrest report.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe victim was initially conscious but was later intubated, which is how she remained until she ultimately succumbed to her injuries on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.,\u201d a deputy wrote, according to the arrest report. <\/p>\n
Stork initially claimed that the victim was using alcohol to clean a pair of shoes and then lit a cigarette and went on to provide different accounts, according to the report. <\/p>\n
Investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives personnel \u201cconfirmed\u201d that the version of events that Stork described was \u201cnot possible to recreate,\u201d according to the report.<\/p>\n

Deputies arrested Stork shortly after 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday, and corrections booked her shortly after 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, records show. <\/p>\n
Stork appeared in court before Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer on Thursday morning. She faced three charges in two new pending cases. <\/p>\n
In a crack cocaine case, Stork faced a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Her bond was $2,500. <\/p>\n
In a domestic violence case, Stork faced two charges: Second-degree murder and arson causing great bodily harm, according to court records. Glazer denied her bond and ordered pre-trial detention. <\/p>\n
