{"id":351364,"date":"2026-07-24T18:15:06","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T18:15:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/351364\/"},"modified":"2026-07-24T18:15:06","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T18:15:06","slug":"gingerbread-extravaganza-gets-a-new-home-and-sponsor-for-the-holidays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/351364\/","title":{"rendered":"Gingerbread Extravaganza gets a new home and sponsor for the holidays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/jaxtoday.org\/2025\/12\/05\/gingerbread-extravaganza-jacksonville-2\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gingerbread Extravaganza<\/a>, a 23-year-old Christmas holiday tradition in Jacksonville, will have a new place to showcase dozens of sweet creations this winter.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/historicspringfield.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Historic Springfield Society<\/a> has taken over the event from the <a href=\"https:\/\/jaxhistory.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jacksonville History Center<\/a> for its 24th annual version. The gingerbread display will move to the society\u2019s headquarters \u2014 a 118-year-old former Presbyterian church at 210 W. 7th St. at Silver Street.<\/p>\n<p>The event had been held from 2007 to 2024 at the history center\u2019s 139-year-old Old St. Andrew\u2019s Church museum site on A. Philip Randolph Boulevard, then moved last year to the History Center\u2019s new museum headquarters and conservation facility on Palmetto Street.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur board of directors unanimously support taking on this time-honored holiday event,\u201d society board president Jeff Gardner said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>History center CEO Alan Bliss said: \u201cAs the Jacksonville History Center allocates its energies and resources to the upcoming museum on its Palmetto Street campus, it made sense to turn this annual holiday event over to another history-minded nonprofit.
