A Florida senior citizen\u2019s attempt to woo a young female \u201csugar baby\u201d<\/a> with a splurge of cash went horribly wrong when he menaced her and her friends with a gun and rammed their getaway car after she tried to escape their first date, cops said.<\/p>\n

The wrong-way romance allegedly began when David O\u2019Brien, 67, allegedly told the woman over the Tinder dating app on July 12 that he was \u201clooking for a sugar baby,\u201d and the pair agreed to meet for a meal Tuesday evening, investigators said.<\/p>\n

The elderly Romeo allegedly offered to give the unnamed young woman $1,000 for her troubles, saying he would buy her dinner and adding \u201cI love to shop for you,\u201d an arrest report obtained by The Post claims.<\/p>\n

The woman was driven to the night out by three friends, and the evening got off to a good start for the woman when O\u2019Brien allegedly gave the gal $200 and \u201ctook her to a lingerie store where she purchased 3 items\u201d before he gave her another $600 at a restaurant<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He then took the woman back to his $270,000 home in The Villages retirement community in Central Florida \u2014 where things took a turn for the worse, cops said.<\/p>\n

The woman allegedly \u201cbegan to feel uncomfortable\u201d at the house and asked her friends to pick her up.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Brien is then said to have demanded that she give the money he\u2019d handed over back \u201cbecause that was not the agreement,\u201d but she refused and left.<\/p>\n

The defendant allegedly \u201cbegan to chase the 4 victims\u201d in his Ford F-150 pickup before ramming their vehicle, causing it to hit a pole, and coming back round again to hit it again, leaving it \u201cdisabled.\u201d<\/p>\n

The woman and two of her friends managed to flee but a man in the car was allegedly confronted by O\u2019Brien.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe defendant pointed his 22 semi-automatic Ruger at him and told him to get on the ground or he would kill him,\u201d the arrest report from Sumter County Sheriff\u2019s Office states.<\/p>\n

Fearful that O\u2019Brien was going to shoot him as he lay face down on the ground, the man said he was able to escape when his attacker was distracted.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Brien allegedly \u201cbriefly\u201d attempted to find the other victims until he was found by law enforcement in his F-150 with his gun after they had received several 911 calls regarding the crash.<\/p>\n

He was arrested and later booked on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill and four counts of aggravated battery, according to the arrest report.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Brien was taken to Sumter County jail and released Thursday afternoon on a $90,000 bond.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"She should have swiped left.
