\u201cIt was great. Some of the football that we played in the first half was\u00a0probably some\u00a0of the best\u00a0we’ve\u00a0played. So going into halftime, there was full belief. You think like\u00a0you’re\u00a0in a boxing\u00a0match\u00a0and\u00a0you’re\u00a0just punching\u00a0away,\u00a0and\u00a0you’re\u00a0just waiting for that knockout punch. We left it to the 88th\u00a0minute,\u00a0but it\u00a0wasn’t\u00a0due to a lack of effort.\u00a0We just kept going and\u00a0going,\u00a0and their keeper played well and made some really good\u00a0saves,\u00a0and we wanted to set the tone early.\u00a0We knew Chicago going into the game wanted to bounce back and felt\u00a0probably a\u00a0bit vulnerable coming\u00a0here\u00a0and we wanted to make it as intimidating as possible. The fans were brilliant,\u00a0as\u00a0well,\u00a0getting right behind us.\u00a0So,\u00a0we kept pursuing it. I was so pleased with Julie\u00a0[Doyle]\u00a0because she got that well-deserved goal and\u00a0she’s\u00a0been working so hard for that\u00a0moment\u00a0so she deserves all her flowers for the game.\u201d\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Marta played the\u00a0nine\u00a0and then Julie\u00a0[Doyle]\u00a0came on and made an immediate impact\u00a0and got the winning goal.\u00a0There’s\u00a0a lot of conversation about what this team would look like with the absence of Barbara.\u00a0You can see that we\u00a0were able to create a lot of opportunities whether\u00a0it’s\u00a0crosses, through balls, shots from outside the box,\u00a0as well, but the\u00a0game\u00a0is\u00a0determined\u00a0by goals,\u00a0and\u00a0so\u00a0that’s\u00a0the final part of\u00a0it,\u00a0right?\u00a0We created\u00a0opportunities and\u00a0we’ve\u00a0got good build up moments. Now\u00a0it’s\u00a0about getting that feeling of hitting the back of the\u00a0net\u00a0and you can see tonight we\u00a0weren’t\u00a0far away from many chances.\u00a0I think every player\u00a0deserved\u00a0a goal tonight.\u00a0Just happy\u00a0for Julie that she gets her moment and gets the game-winning goal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Solei [Washington]\u00a0was really successful down the\u00a0left\u00a0and the whole\u00a0team put in a really good shift tonight.\u00a0I told the girls after every shot, every\u00a0miss, every save: keep believing, keep working.
