<\/a>@bioreconstruct\/x<\/p>\nAerial photographer bioreconstruct<\/a> shared new views of the former attraction and the surrounding Lost Continent demolition site. Since our previous update<\/a>, crews have removed more of the show building\u2019s exterior walls, roof, and interior infrastructure.<\/p>\n During the previous update, three of the five chambers through which guests traveled \u2013 the Holding Chamber, Ceremonial Chamber, and Chamber of Death \u2013 had already been demolished. The Undiscovered Chamber and Chamber of Poseidon remained near the center of the building, while the recognizable half-circle entrance to the Vortex was still visible near ground level. That portion of the attraction is now gone. <\/p>\n In the above photo, bioreconstruct highlights four elements of the showbuilding that now sit exposed to aerial views. <\/p>\n The debris-covered area at the base of the remaining building marks the former location of the Vortex, the swirling water tunnel that once carried guests between the attraction\u2019s two largest show scenes (1). The tunnel was one of Poseidon\u2019s Fury\u2019s signature effects, surrounding guests with a spinning ring of water as they walked through its dry center.<\/p>\n Sections of their interior walls and technical infrastructure are now visible through the open side of the building. One exposed section contained walls that could rise following a moment of darkness during the show\u2019s climax (2), creating an illusion of guests being transported to the temple of Poseidon. With the outer shell removed, portions of the area where those moving walls operated can now be seen amid the remaining structural supports and debris.<\/p>\n Large black sound baffles are also visible inside the building (3). The panels helped control the significant noise produced by the attraction\u2019s effects and show systems, preventing sound from one scene from interfering with another.<\/p>\n Farther above the demolished area, tall walls remain from the attraction\u2019s larger effects chamber (4). This was part of the space used for the climactic battle between Poseidon and the evil Lord Darkenon. The chamber combined water, fire, lighting, projections, physical sets, and other effects to create the illusion of a massive supernatural confrontation unfolding around the audience.<\/p>\n Although much of the interior has now been exposed, large portions of the show building\u2019s roof and exterior walls remain standing. Heavy equipment is positioned throughout the debris field, including multiple excavators working near the open chambers. Rubble from the demolished walls and former show spaces covers most of the ground immediately behind the structure.<\/p>\n The building\u2019s decorated temple facade also remains partially standing on the opposite side, though the attraction\u2019s entrance plaza has been almost entirely cleared. The giant trident, statue fragments, queue walls, rockwork, and other themed features that once established the Temple of Poseidon have been removed during earlier phases of demolition<\/a>.<\/p>\n A wider aerial view shows the enormous scale of the work underway throughout The Lost Continent. The former Poseidon\u2019s Fury site occupies one end of the construction zone, while the demolished site of The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad<\/a> sits nearby. The Sindbad theater has been completely removed, leaving a broad expanse of graded earth where the amphitheater once stood.<\/p>\n Construction equipment, temporary roads, dirt piles, and excavation areas now fill much of the former land. Some surviving Lost Continent structures remain near the guest pathways, including the domed building along the edge of the work zone. The themed rockwork around Mythos and the waterfront also remains intact.<\/p>\n Poseidon\u2019s Fury closed permanently in May 2023<\/a> after operating at Universal Islands of Adventure since the park\u2019s opening in 1999.
