Montreal\u2019s Brayan Vera immediately called for medical assistance as several players of both teams attended to the 27-year-old.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-7470771 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/GettyImages-2287651803-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Image of Inter Miami and Montreal players waving for medical attention to come onto the pitch\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\n      Berterame\u2019s fall caused immediate concern among both sets of players (Photo by Minas Panagiotakis\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>After several minutes of receiving medical attention, Berterame \u2014 who did not appear to have regained consciouscness \u2014 was taken off the pitch on a stretcher and transferred into an ambulance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s recovering right now, he\u2019s fine, conscious,\u201d Hoyos told reporters after the game.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83c\udf99\ufe0fGuillermo Hoyos: &#8220;Berterame est\u00e1 consciente y est\u00e1 bien. They\u2019re calm. The most important thing is that he\u2019s OK, and right now he is OK.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were alarmed at first because the blow was very strong. On the play, it\u2019s obvious there was an elbow, which is why a penalty was awarded, he fell like dead weight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he might have already been unconscious given the severity of the impact. He took that elbow and hit the ground hard. It was a moment of great desperation and deep sadness, because it went beyond football, and all that. It\u2019s about human life, that\u2019s what matters most. So, we just hope everything turns out well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Inter Miami were awarded a penalty owing to the incident, which Luis Suarez converted to score the only goal of the game for his side\u2019s victory.
