{"id":353316,"date":"2026-07-27T03:44:13","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T03:44:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/353316\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T03:44:13","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T03:44:13","slug":"leaders-reflect-on-service-of-florida-firefighter-following-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/353316\/","title":{"rendered":"Leaders reflect on service of Florida firefighter following death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Indian River County leaders reflect on service of firefighter Geoffrey Lang following his death<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1785123853_923_author_avatar.png\" width=\"48\" height=\"48\" alt=\"Malcolm Shields\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1785123853_923_author_avatar.png\" width=\"48\" height=\"48\" alt=\"Allen Cone\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>VERO BEACH, Fla. \u2014<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"0\">The Indian River County Government released a statement on Sunday after the death of one of its firefighters and paramedics.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"1\">Geoffrey Lang died on Saturday following a \u201cpersonal tragedy\u201d at his home in Sebastian, county spokeswoman Kathy Copeland said.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"2\">Lang, 35, was survived by his wife, two children and parents.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"3\">Lang joined Indian River County Fire Rescue in 2015, and worked out of Station 9 at 13550 Roseland Road in Sebastian.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"4\">Copeland said that Lang dedicated his career to serving the residents of Indian River County with professionalism and compassion. <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"5\">\u201cHe was a valued member of the department, respected by his fellow firefighters, and known for his unwavering commitment to others,\u201d the county spokesperson said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"6\">Your neighborhood: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpbf.com\/local-news\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Local coverage from WPBF 25 News<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"8\">On Sunday, Indian River County leaders provided comments about Lang following his death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring this incredibly difficult time, our hearts go out to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.\u201d <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"10\">\u2013 Indian River County Administrator John A. Titkanich, Jr. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Today, we mourn the loss of one of our own. Geoffrey faithfully served our community for more than a decade, and his absence will be deeply felt throughout our department. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones and ask our community to keep them in their thoughts and prayers as we grieve this tremendous loss. <br \/>We respectfully ask that the privacy of Geoffrey&#8217;s family, friends, and fellow firefighters be honored during this challenging time.
