LUCIE \u2013 The Port St. Lucie City Council continued its commitment to reducing property taxes for residents when it agreed to lower the City\u2019s millage rate for the 11thconsecutive year.<\/p>\n<p>At the annual Summer Workshop held July 22-23, City Council approved a property tax (millage) rate of 4.8750 for FY 2026-27, a decrease from 4.9750 in FY 2025-26. The budget will be adopted by City Council in September, with public hearings taking place Sept. 14 and Sept. 28. The FY 2026-27 budget goes into effect Oct. 1, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The property tax reduction maintains Port St. Lucie\u2019s record of steadily reducing its millage rate while managing historic population growth, investing in essential infrastructure and improving public safety.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2016, the City has reduced its millage rate by 25%, saving the average homeowner nearly $2,000 over a 10-year period.
