Grammy award-winning artist Marc Anthony and recording artist Ricardo Montaner, who has lived in Venezuela since he was a child, will headline a benefit concert for the victims of the powerful earthquakes that recently devastated Venezuela.<\/p>\n
The Unidos Por Venezuela concert will take place on Sunday, Aug. 16, at the Kaseya Center in Downtown Miami.<\/p>\n
Also performing are Feid, Jay Wheeler, Elena Rose, Silvestre Dangond, Gente de Zona and Mau y Ricky, among others, according to Miami New Times.<\/p>\n
The benefit concert was organized in partnership with internationally recognized humanitarian organizations. It aims to help fund programs providing food assistance, medical care and medicines, temporary shelter and housing solutions, child protection and childcare, mental health services and family reunification, supporting affected communities through every stage of recovery and reconstruction.<\/p>\n
The organizers include Maestro Cares Foundation, TelevisaUnivision, PIMIENTO Entertainment, iHeartRadio, Creative Link and Arco Entertainment.<\/p>\n
The earthquakes struck on June 24, as the death toll reached more than 5,000 and has caused an estimated $6.7 billion in damage.<\/p>\n
Thousands of people were left homeless without food, water and medical supplies.<\/p>\n
Humanitarian aid programs were launched by organizations in South Florida for the earthquake victims including the American Red Cross, Catholic Relief Service, International Medical Corps and Zakat Foundation.<\/p>\n
In addition, the Miami-Dade Tax Collector office is accepting donations at its locations.<\/p>\n
According to Kumneger Media, Montaner has been crying out for help for the victims of the earthquakes.<\/p>\n
“There are moments in life when we must choose between what is urgent and what is important, today is not the case,\u201d he said. \u201cWhat is happening in Venezuela is urgent and important \u2026 getting active is a way to demonstrate why we are there. God have mercy on these people who love him \u2026 and we, let us have the urgency to help those who need it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The artists are bringing the benefit concert to South Florida, which is home to a large Venezuelan population. Miami-Dade County has a 70.3 Hispanic population, according to Census Dots<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Venezuelan share of the population in Miami-Dade County is about 124,087 residents, representing 4.6 percent of its total population, according to Neilsberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n Doral has the largest Venezuelan population in Miami-Dade with 31,361 residents followed by Miami (19,810), Hialeah (5,143), Aventura (3,093), Coral Gables (3,093).<\/p>\n
