Palm Beach County tests voting machines ahead of Florida primary<\/p>\n

Election workers are testing voting equipment to ensure ballots will be counted accurately when Florida voters head to the polls for the Aug. 18 primary election.<\/p>\n

Staff members and canvassing board officials gathered Monday at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Office to conduct a public logic and accuracy test.<\/p>\n

The process involves running sample ballots through tabulation machines and confirming each vote is read, recorded and counted correctly.<\/p>\n

Florida law requires the testing before every election to verify that equipment is ready for early voting and Election Day.<\/p>\n

Each machine goes through the same procedure. Officials compare its results with sample predetermined vote totals to confirm they match.<\/p>\n

Officials tested 41 machines Monday in a process that took several hours.<\/p>\n
