A man involved in a gunfight last year with his brother in Allapattah \u2014 which turned into a shootout that injured two police officers \u2014 struck a plea deal with prosecutors on Monday.<\/p>\n
Alan Henry Triana, 39, was sentenced to two years of community control, which is similar to house arrest, followed by eight years of probation. But prosecutors dropped charges stemming from the shootout in exchange for his plea in another case.<\/p>\n
READ MORE: Gunfight between two brothers led to Miami officers being shot, police say<\/a><\/p>\n Triana\u2019s sentence is linked to him shooting at a driver who was chasing him from Dolphin Mall in Sweetwater back to Allapattah, his attorney Carlos Pelayo Gonzalez told reporters. In an arrest report, police said the shooting was a road rage incident.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s on camera that this person was in a high-speed chase with my client, running red lights, going into incoming traffic, running stop signs.\u201d Pelayo Gonzalez said.<\/p>\n That shooting, however, occurred a month after the gunfire outside the Allapattah residence.<\/p>\n In that case, he was charged with \u2014 and on Monday pleaded guilty to \u2014 aggravated assault, shooting a deadly missile and discharging a firearm from a vehicle. In addition to probation, Triana was ordered to complete anger management, attend Narcotics Anonymous and stay away from the driver.<\/p>\n In the shootout-related case, prosecutors had charged Triana with possession of armor-piercing ammunition, fabricating evidence and resisting arrest. But Pelayo Gonzalez said his client voluntarily surrendered to police and cooperated with them when they sought to interview him.<\/p>\n On Oct. 9, two Miami police officers responded to reports of a shooting at Northwest 26th Street near 14th and 15th avenues. The female officer was hit in the knee, and the male police officer, who is a sergeant, was shot in the ankle.<\/p>\n The man who police said shot the officers, 27-year-old Mason Triana, was found dead from a gunshot wound inside a nearby house at 1439 NW 26th St. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating whether Mason Triana was killed by police or if he shot himself, although Pelayo Gonzalez on Monday said Mason Triana was killed by police.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Two Miami officers shot in Allapattah. Man barricaded in house dead, police say<\/a><\/p>\n Detectives concluded that the mayhem was the result of a shootout Mason Triana had earlier in the morning with his older brother, Alan Triana.<\/p>\n Alan Triana was arrested after police served a search warrant at ET Body Shop, a car repair business he owns at 2319 NW 27th Ave. An employee called him to tell him police were there and wanted him to come to the shop with a rifle they were looking for, according to the report.<\/p>\n When he arrived, he was holding a white plastic bag with the barrel of an AR-15-type rifle sticking out from the top, according to the report. Officers, with their guns drawn, ordered Alan Triana to the ground. He complied, but resisted being handcuffed, according to the report.<\/p>\n Detectives took him to his grandmother\u2019s home, and Alan Triana told them they would find several guns, including an AR-15-style pistol.
