Leer en espa\u00f1ol<\/a><\/p>\nDeputies took Daniel Delgado, 57, of southwest Miami-Dade, and Luis Alberto Vidal, 55, of Hialeah, into custody on multiple felony charges on Tuesday morning in connection with what authorities describe as a \u201ccoordinated scheme.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to MDSO, Delgado worked at Amigos Traffic School, while Vidal worked at Millennium Traffic School.<\/p>\n
Deputies said they \u201cwere suspected of fraudulently issuing qualifying certificates to students at their respective traffic schools.\u201c<\/p>\n
During undercover operations, deputies said Delgado \u201ccertified that an undercover deputy successfully completed the driving agility test, even though the operative committed several traffic violations that should have resulted in automatic disqualification,\u201d while Vidal certified an undercover deputy who never even took the tests.<\/p>\n
\u201cDriver licenses are not something to be bought, fabricated, or fraudulently obtained,\u201d Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said, in part, in an agency news release. \u201cThey are earned by demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to safely operate a vehicle on our roads. There will be no shortcuts when it comes to the safety of our community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Both men face charges of unlawful use or possession of a driver\u2019s license, official misconduct and falsifying public records.<\/p>\n
They were each being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Tuesday afternoon: Delgado on a $7,500 bond, Vidal on a $15,000 bond.<\/p>\n
