The letter called him out and claimed that \u201cnobody is impressed\u201d with his Camaro SS.<\/p>\n<p>In a TikTok with over 5.1 million views as of this writing, Florida man Jay (@vvsjay1) shows the letter that was left on the windshield of his Camaro SS. \u201cPOV Apartment living,\u201d the onscreen text reads.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The letter calls him out for what the sender intimates is unneighborly behavior.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo the owner of the loud car. This is an anonymous note because many of your neighbors don\u2019t feel comfortable saying this to your face. You may think the loud revving, intentional backfires, and repeated engine noises make your car sound impressive or get positive attention. It doesn\u2019t. To the overwhelming majority of people who hear it, it\u2019s simply loud, disruptive, and inconsiderate,\u201d it reads.<\/p>\n<p>The typed letter accuses Jay of disturbing other residents of the apartment complex, which they say includes remote workers, people with young children, military veterans, people trying to sleep.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reaction isn\u2019t admiration,\u201d they wrote, per the posted text of the letter. \u201cIt\u2019s frustration, weary, and exhaustion. Most people aren\u2019t thinking, \u2018That\u2019s a cool car and the driver is so cool and powerful.\u2019 They\u2019re thinking, \u2018There goes that inconsiderate, narcissistic neighbor again.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The anonymous writer acknowledges the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/776757\/2016-chevrolet-camaro-for-20000-dollars\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22776757%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%222016-chevrolet-camaro-for-20000-dollars%22%7D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Camaro SS<\/a> is a beautiful car and says he has \u201cevery right to enjoy\u201d it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut there is a difference between enjoying your loud vehicle on a public street versus being so inconsiderate in your own neighborhood of hard working families,\u201d they write. \u201cPlease stop revving the engine and intentionally creating unnecessary noises in our community. Please be considerate. Thank you for being a better neighbor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For the sign off, the writer refers to an article in Psychology Today\u00a0and a sketch comedy skit by Trevor Wallace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPS: Do a Good search and look up \u2018Who Wants A Loud Car\u2019 published by Psychology Today. Also search for \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hEG6knXQxNg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">POV: you drive a loud car<\/a>\u2019 on YouTube.\u201d the letter concludes.<\/p>\n<p>Jay doesn\u2019t think that the scolding is warranted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t drive my car recklessly,\u201d he says in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@vvsjay1\/photo\/7665536910508526862?image_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">TikTok\u2019s<\/a> caption. \u201cMy car is naturally loud, it&#8217;s a V-8 &amp; has a cold air intake. I drive as calm &amp; quiet as possible and no matter what I get blamed for driving too \u2018loud.\u2019 I worked hard for this car so I\u2019m not gonna let my neighbors tell me how to drive it. It\u2019s an apartment complex; if the sound of a car bothers you too [much] get a house. Many roasted him for having such a loud car. Several said that driving <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/798771\/new-chevrolet-camaro-performance-variant\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22798771%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22new-chevrolet-camaro-performance-variant%22%7D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cars<\/a> that loud give them the ick.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNoo like she\u2019s right\u2026. Because it&#8217;s corny af,\u201d one TikTok commenter wrote. (The neighbor\u2019s gender is unknown.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiggest ick is a loud corny car,\u201d another commented.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOwning a loud car while living in an apartment complex is high-key selfish,\u201d a third added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Others appreciated his neighbor\u2019s approach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe letter was actually very respectful,\u201d one wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBro getting constructive criticism,\u201d one commented.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Several pointed out that the comment section did not side with Jay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody on his side in the comments frying me,\u201d one wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe thought everyone was gonna be on his side,\u201d another added.<\/p>\n<p>Who Wants A Loud Car?<\/p>\n<p>With thousands, sometimes millions, of the same model vehicles cruising the streets, modifications are an excellent way to make your ride stand out. Some do this by spray painting it with pink glitter, adding stickers, or getting a bigger exhaust pipe to make it louder.<\/p>\n<p>Loud cars are popular in some circles, not so much in others\u2014presumably like Jay\u2019s apartment complex.<\/p>\n<p>Third Coast Auto Group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thirdcoastautos.com\/blog\/why-do-some-people-want-their-cars-to-be-loud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">reports<\/a> that drivers seek loud cars to have a thrilling drive, performance boost, optimized shift notification, and to show off.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For detractors, loud cars are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/opinion\/new-cars\/am-i-getting-old-or-are-loud-exhausts-becoming-cringeworthy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">obnoxious<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/opinion\/new-cars\/am-i-getting-old-or-are-loud-exhausts-becoming-cringeworthy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">cringe<\/a>. According to an article cited by the anonymous letter writer, there may be some science behind it. Psychology Today <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologytoday.com\/us\/blog\/human-individual-differences\/202305\/who-wants-a-loud-car\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">reports<\/a>, \u201cThose higher in sadism and psychopathy may be more drawn to disruptive cars.\u201d The outlet reports that a study suggests people with loud cars intentionally modify their exhaust pipes to scare people or otherwise cause disruptions.<\/p>\n<p>One person who commented on Jay\u2019s post was impressed by the flex.<\/p>\n<p>They said, \u201cGiving you links to psychologically explain your behavior is crazyyyy.
