ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013 Orlando International Airport (MCO<\/a>) is moving up. <\/p>\n

According to new rankings released<\/a> by Airports Council International North America (ACI-NA), MCO jumped from ninth to seventh in the nation for passenger traffic in 2025 \u2014 and remains the busiest airport in Florida and 25th in the world.<\/p>\n

The airport served 57,675,573 passengers in 2025, a slight increase from 57,211,628 the year before. International travel played a key role in that growth, with three new transatlantic nonstop routes launching to Munich, Madrid and Paris.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese numbers are reflective of Central Florida\u2019s continued growth and global appeal,\u201d said Lance Lyttle, CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. \u201cThey also show why it is important to embrace a strategic vision that focuses on enhancing customer service while addressing critical infrastructure needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lyttle, who took over as MCO\u2019s CEO in April 2025, is now steering a sweeping $6 billion, 10-year plan to keep pace with that growth. The \u201cElevating MCO & ORL: The Vision Forward\u201d strategy \u2014 approved by the GOAA board in October 2025<\/a> \u2014 includes 8,000 new parking spaces, a new baggage handling system for Terminals A and B, and additional gate expansions, all targeted for 2030.<\/p>\n

Longer term, plans call for completing Terminal C\u2019s second phase by 2035 and eventually building Terminal D \u2014 a sign that MCO\u2019s ambitions are far from grounded.<\/p>\n
