ORLANDO, Fla. \u2014\u00a0 A veteran theme park attraction designer is about to show the world his latest passion project.<\/p>\n
Here are five things to know:<\/p>\n
Dan Carro is Gatorland\u2019s creative director. So all of the things guests are experiencing\u00a0\u2014 including the upcoming Gators, Ghosts and Goblins\u00a0\u2014 are influenced by his leadership. \u201cOne of the things I\u2019ve always been in awe of is he\u2019s kind of like a creative MacGyver,\u201d said Carro\u2019s lifelong friend, Dale Lucas. \u201cYou can give him any tiny fraction of resources and he can make something absolutely stellar and miraculous out of it.\u201d
\nCarro\u2019s latest and most anticipated personal passion project is the launch of a comic book series. He and his team are \u201cflipping the script\u201d on traditional comic books.
\n\u201cWe\u2019re not doing what everybody else is,\u201d said Hailey Lewis, who\u2019s the lead artist and co-creator. \u201cWe wanted to do something very different.\u201d The book collab was spawned when Carro asked her to help him out at Gatorland a few years back, and she got to know him and his original monster-hunting character. \u201cAs a gift,\u201d she said, \u201cI drew his character Raptus. I\u2019m a werewolf person. So I thought he needed a werewolf sidekick to go with him.\u201d
\n\u201cHunter and Hound\u201d elevates the classic comic superhero and adventure plots. \u201cThey say write what you know,\u201d said Carro. \u201cThis is about father-daughter relationships and mentoring.\u201d He added, \u201cAs a parent or a manager or a leader or a boss, you\u2019re teaching what you know, but you\u2019re respecting the fact that they are the next generation, and they\u2019re savvy in things that you aren\u2019t.\u201d
\nThe comic book launch party is Wednesday night at Gods and Monsters on International Drive. It\u2019s a full moon, so in addition to meet-n-greets, trivia, and giveaways, an actual wolf dog from \u201cIn Harmony with Nature Wolf Sanctuary\u201d will be in attendance.
