A single, lucky winner in Florida could be taking home the $800 million Mega Millions jackpot.<\/p>\n
According to Mega Millions, a single ticket sold in Bradenton matched all the numbers, claiming the 10th-largest jackpot in history and the biggest so far this year.<\/p>\n
The winning numbers for Tuesday\u2019s drawing were: 34, 48, 49, 59, 70 and Mega Ball 12.<\/p>\n
The next drawing will be held on Friday at 11 p.m. ET, with an estimated jackpot of $50 million.<\/p>\n
How is the jackpot paid?<\/p>\n
Winners have two options. <\/p>\n
Lump-sum cash payment: This is a smaller amount than the advertised jackpot, but paid out at once. For this drawing, the cash option is $344.2 million.<\/p>\n
Annual payments: The winner receives the jackpot in an initial payment followed by 29 annual payments.<\/p>\n
Keep in mind that both options are subject to federal taxes and, depending on the state where the prize is claimed, state taxes may also apply.<\/p>\n

The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 290,472,336, while the odds of winning any Mega Millions prize are 1 in 23.<\/p>\n
How do you play Mega Millions?<\/p>\n
Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday in 45 U.S. states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.<\/p>\n
However, if you live in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming or Puerto Rico, you cannot purchase Mega Millions tickets.<\/p>\n
How do you choose the numbers?<\/p>\n
You must select five numbers from 1 to 70 and the Mega Ball, a gold ball numbered 1 through 25. To win the jackpot, you must match all six winning numbers.<\/p>\n
