Universal Orlando Resort just restored a major piece of The Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure<\/a>, and it\u2019s one of those updates guests may appreciate more than a new sign or fresh coat of paint.<\/p>\n

The timing makes the move especially interesting.<\/p>\n

Much of The Lost Continent remains surrounded by construction walls as Universal continues dismantling what\u2019s left of the once-expansive land. Poseidon\u2019s Fury is coming down, other familiar pieces have already disappeared, and the area looks very different from the version guests walked through for more than two decades.<\/p>\n

Yet Universal hasn\u2019t completely abandoned this corner of Islands of Adventure.<\/p>\n

Construction barriers have now been removed from an important location, giving guests access to something that had been unavailable during the ongoing work.<\/p>\n

And while it certainly doesn\u2019t mean The Lost Continent is making a comeback, this is one reopening plenty of parkgoers will gladly take.<\/p>\n

\nThe Lost Continent Is Disappearing Piece by Piece<\/p>\n

The Lost Continent has been part of Islands of Adventure since the park opened in 1999, but its footprint has steadily shrunk over the years.<\/p>\n

The land originally featured multiple areas inspired by myths, legends, and ancient civilizations. Over time, however, Universal began removing or transforming pieces of the original experience.<\/p>\n

The biggest change came when a large portion of The Lost Continent became The Wizarding World of Harry Potter<\/a> \u2013 Hogsmeade. That transformation left a much smaller version of the original land behind.<\/p>\n

In recent years, even that remaining section has begun to disappear.<\/p>\n

Poseidon\u2019s Fury permanently closed in May 2023, eliminating the land\u2019s biggest attraction. The elaborate walkthrough experience had taken guests inside the Temple of Poseidon, with massive sets, water effects, projections, and a battle between Poseidon and Lord Darkenon.<\/p>\n

For years after the closure, however, the huge temple remained standing.<\/p>\n

That is no longer the case.<\/p>\n

Universal has moved forward with demolition<\/a> around the former Poseidon\u2019s Fury site, removing another major piece of The Lost Continent. Other elements have disappeared as well, leaving guests to watch as one of Islands of Adventure\u2019s original lands is gradually stripped down.<\/p>\n

But amid all that demolition, Universal just reversed course in one small but surprisingly useful way.<\/p>\n

\nOne Familiar Spot Is Finally Accessible Again<\/p>\n

Guests walking through The Lost Continent have encountered construction barriers as Universal continues its work in the area.<\/p>\n

Now, some of those barriers have come down.<\/p>\n

Universal has finally reopened the bathrooms in The Lost Continent.<\/p>\n

It may not sound like the most exciting theme park update, especially while an enormous former attraction is being demolished nearby. Still, it solves a practical problem for guests moving through this side of Islands of Adventure.<\/p>\n

Theme park bathrooms can become surprisingly important when crowds are heavy, especially for families with young children or anyone trying to avoid walking farther than necessary.<\/p>\n

The Lost Continent sits between The Wizarding World of Harry Potter<\/a> \u2013 Hogsmeade and Seuss Landing, putting the reopened bathrooms along a heavily traveled pathway.<\/p>\n

With construction walls removed from this portion of the land, guests once again have another option without needing to continue farther into a neighboring area.<\/p>\n

Considering how much Universal has removed from The Lost Continent lately, getting anything back feels noteworthy.<\/p>\n

\nWhat Could Replace The Lost Continent?<\/p>\n

Universal has confirmed The Lost Continent will eventually give way to a new themed land, but the company has not revealed its theme, attractions, or other major details.<\/p>\n

Several major franchises have repeatedly entered that conversation.<\/p>\n

Pok\u00e9mon is one possibility that fans have discussed as Universal continues expanding its relationship with Nintendo. With SUPER NINTENDO WORLD already operating at Epic Universe, Pok\u00e9mon could give Universal another enormously popular gaming franchise<\/a> to build around.<\/p>\n

The Legend of Zelda has also frequently appeared in speculation surrounding The Lost Continent. Its fantasy setting could make it a particularly interesting fit for an area already designed around temples, mythology, and an old-world atmosphere.<\/p>\n

Then there\u2019s The Lord of the Rings.<\/p>\n

Rumors about Universal potentially developing a land based on Middle-earth have circulated for years. The franchise could support everything from major attractions to immersive restaurants, shops, and detailed environments.<\/p>\n

For now, though, Pok\u00e9mon, The Legend of Zelda, and The Lord of the Rings remain possibilities rather than confirmed replacements for The Lost Continent.<\/p>\n

Universal hasn\u2019t announced what will take over the former Poseidon\u2019s Fury area, and demolition alone doesn\u2019t tell us which direction the company plans to take.<\/p>\n

Still, removing such a large attraction naturally raises questions about what Universal has planned for the valuable space.<\/p>\n

The Lost Continent\u2019s future remains uncertain, and the ongoing demolition makes one thing clear: Universal isn\u2019t simply restoring the land<\/a> guests remember from years ago.<\/p>\n

Poseidon\u2019s Fury is coming down, familiar pieces have disappeared, and one of Islands of Adventure\u2019s opening-day areas continues moving toward an unknown future.<\/p>\n

That makes this smaller reopening a welcome surprise.<\/p>\n

Universal removed construction barriers and restored access to the bathrooms, giving guests another convenient option while they travel between Hogsmeade and Seuss Landing.<\/p>\n

It isn\u2019t a new attraction, and it doesn\u2019t answer the much bigger question of what Universal plans to build here next.<\/p>\n

But with so much of The Lost Continent disappearing lately, guests finally have something in the area reopening instead of closing.<\/p>\n
