\nNOTICE OF SOLICITATION OF APPLICATIONS
\nFOR THE HISTORIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL PRESERVATION BOARD
\nIn accordance with Section 62-27 of the Miami City Code, as amended, no appointment shall be
\nmade by the City Commission to membership on the Historic and Environmental Preservation
\n(HEP) Board until the City Clerk has given notice of the vacancy in a newspaper of general circulation in the City at least thirty (30) days prior to the making of an appointment.
\nIt is intended that members and alternate members of the HEP Board be persons of knowledge,
\nexperience, mature judgment, and background; having ability and desire to act in the public
\ninterest; and representing, insofar as may be possible, the various special professional training,
\nexperience, and interests required to make informed and equitable decisions concerning preservation and protection of the physical environment. Additionally, Miami City Code Section 62-27
\nrequires that all persons appointed to the HEP Board shall be electors of the City.
\nBoard members must be appointed according to the following qualifications:
\n\u2022 One member shall be an architect who is or has been registered in the State.
\n\u2022 One member shall be a landscape architect who is or has been registered in the State.
\n\u2022 One member shall be a historian or architectural historian qualified by means of education or
\nexperience and having demonstrated knowledge and interest in county history or
\narchitectural history.
\n\u2022 One member shall be an architect or architectural historian having demonstrated
\nknowledge and experience in architectural restoration and historic preservation.
\n\u2022 One member shall be an experienced real estate broker who is or has been licensed
\nby the State.
\n\u2022 One member shall be a person experienced in the field of business and finance or law.
\n\u2022 Three members shall be citizens with demonstrated knowledge and interest in the historic
\nand architectural heritage of the City and\/or conservation of the natural environment,
\nand may also qualify under any of the above categories.
\n\u2022 One alternate member shall qualify under one of the above categories.
\nPublic, professional, and citizen organizations having interest in and knowledge of the purpose
\nand intent of the board are encouraged and solicited to submit to the City Clerk\u2019s Office, 3500
\nPan American Drive, Miami, Florida, 33133, a completed nomination form indicating the name,
\naddress and qualifications of persons for consideration as prospective appointees to the HEP
\nBoard. Application forms are available in the City Clerk\u2019s Office and online at the City Clerk\u2019s
\nwebsite (https:\/\/www.miamigov.com\/boards).
\nAll nominations from the public must be received by Monday, August 24, 2026, at 4:00 PM.
\nApplications from the public received by the deadline will be given due consideration by the City
\nCommission. The names and qualifications of persons submitted by the public to the City Clerk
\nwill be available for review on Wednesday, August 26, 2025, in the City Clerk\u2019s Office.
\nAdditionally, the City Clerk shall, at least five (5) days prior to the making of any appointment,
\npublicly make announcement that the names and qualifications of prospective nominees submitted by members of the City Commission are available for public inspection and consideration.
\nThe names and qualifications of persons submitted by the City Commission as prospective
\nnominees to the HEP Board will be available for review on Thursday, September 3, 2026, in the
\nCity Clerk\u2019s Office.
\nThe City Commission may consider making appointments to the HEP Board at the City Commission meeting presently scheduled for September 10, 2026. For additional information on the
