LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 Visitors and residents near <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/topic\/Savannas%20Preserve\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Savannas Preserve State Park<\/a> may see smoke Friday as state crews plan to conduct a prescribed burn across approximately 170 acres.<\/p>\n<p>The Florida Department of Environmental Protection said the burn is planned for Friday, July 31, weather permitting. The<a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/topic\/St.%20Lucie%20County%20Sheriff&#039;s%20Office\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> St. Lucie County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/a> also shared the advisory Thursday to alert the community.<\/p>\n<p>The burn will take place in an area of mesic flatwoods north of Walton Road and west of Sandhill Crane Park.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said prescribed fires are conducted only when weather conditions are suitable.
