Crescent Beach Family Park reopened on Fort Myers Beach this week, approximately six months after construction started.<\/p>\n

The $1.3 million Lee County project involves the planting of a new grassy area in the middle along with shade trees and shade structures.<\/p>\n

The project got off to a rocky start when the contractor took down a number of cabbage palm trees, which had long stood in the front of the property. <\/p>\n

According to county officials, the new park has more native trees now, along with plantings that will ultimately deliver even more trees to the park.<\/p>\n

The park, located between the Margaritaville Beach Resort and Times Square, was formerly a large sand box where beach volleyball, and games of used to regularly took place before Hurricane Ian.<\/p>\n
