TALLAHASSEE, Fla. \u2014 Millions of people across Florida<\/a> face days of thunderstorms<\/a> and heavy downpours<\/a> through the weekend as oppressive humidity<\/a> fuels repeated storms, creating a flash flood<\/a> threat while pushing feels-like temperatures to nearly 115 degrees in some parts of the state.<\/p>\n

A slow-moving cold weather front is expected to trigger daily afternoon thunderstorms as it sags south through Florida through the weekend.<\/p>\n

Air temperatures will climb into the mid and upper 90s ahead of the storms, which will push heat index values<\/a> up to 115 across parts of the panhandle, with near-triple-digit heat indices across Central Florida.<\/p>\n

The likelihood of severe storms on Friday is likely to be diminished after storms moved through the Panhandle on Thursday, delaying hundreds of fights across Miami<\/a>, Orlando<\/a> and Fort Lauderdale.<\/a><\/p>\n

Rounds of showers and thunderstorms are still expected Friday afternoon and evening and should persist into the weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The FOX Forecast Center said because the storms will move slowly and could repeatedly track over the same areas, some locations may quickly pick up 1 to 2 inches of rain in a short period, leading to flash flooding.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Cities at risk for downpours and flooding include Tallahassee<\/a>, Orlando and Jacksonville<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Heading into the weekend, localized flash flood threats will increase as storms repeatedly track over the same area.<\/p>\n

HOW TO WATCH FOX WEATHER<\/a><\/p>\n

“Rain totals of 3 to 5 inches are possible across parts of Central and Northern Florida through Sunday, with isolated higher amounts over 5 inches,” the FOX Forecast Center said.<\/p>\n

However, widespread flash flooding is not expected as the rain is expected to fall over a number of days.<\/p>\n

Storms could still interrupt beach<\/a> trips with lightning, heavy rain and gusty winds.<\/p>\n
