Fast-growing St. Petersburg, Florida-based coffee chain The Blend Coffee & Cocktails<\/a> filed for bankruptcy protection this week, seeking to reorganize debts while stores remain open.<\/p>\n

Court records show that 11 related companies under The Blend Coffee name filed voluntary Chapter 11 petitions in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida on Nov. 4. The filings fall under Subchapter V<\/a>, a streamlined process for smaller businesses seeking timely reorganization.<\/p>\n

A judge granted a request to jointly administer cases \u2014 which are tied to The Blend\u2019s retail locations<\/a> \u2014 on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The case is not associated with a Wisconsin business of a similar name, Blend Coffee & Cocktails in Franklin.<\/p>\n

The Blend Holdings LLC, listed as the holding company for the Florida coffee shops, is solely owned by The Blend co-founder Stacha Madsen, a Seattle transplant who opened the first location in St. Petersburg in 2020.<\/p>\n

The company had grown to at least eight locations in 2024, with plans to add numerous new shops, according to multiple local news reports<\/a>. The cafe concept pairs a coffee menu alongside cocktails in fast-casual environments.<\/p>\n

The company has locations in the St. Petersburg neighborhoods of Old Northeast, Disston Heights, Magnolia Heights and West St. Pete, as well as in Pinellas Park, Largo, Tampa, Lithia and Land O\u2019 Lakes.<\/p>\n
