during an appearance on \u201cThis Week in South Florida\u201d Sunday<\/a>. <\/p>\nFishback is a Republican and political newcomer. He\u2019s a Davie native and a businessman who has gained steam online amid some controversial comments. <\/p>\n
The 31-year-old has been accused of using antisemitic and racist language, and was asked about it by TWISF host Janine Stanwood. <\/p>\n
\u201cIn both of these cases (of alleged racist remarks), you\u2019re talking to Black people and you\u2019re using the word \u2018slave\u2019, and \u2018lynched\u2019. Is that intentional?\u201d asked Stanwood. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s intentional is Byron Donalds took $104 million from some of the largest out of state donors in this country, people like Mark Zuckerberg gave him $5 million cause they wanna build data centers in Broward, Dade county,\u201d Fishback replied. <\/p>\n
Congressman Byron Donalds is the frontrunner in polling and fundraising, and is endorsed by Donald Trump, but according to the RealClearPolitics average, Fishback is a top contender. <\/p>\n
He has received 9% of the vote, though still trailing by a large margin.<\/p>\n
Fishback has been kept out of the state republicans\u2019 key political events, including June\u2019s Sunshine State Showdown.<\/p>\n
The state party explained that he took part in an unsanctioned debate and attacked his fellow Republicans.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe only people I think I\u2019ve ticked off are Byron Donalds and his consultants,\u201d Fishback said. <\/p>\n
Fishback has centered his campaign around eliminating property taxes and banning all data centers from coming to Florida.<\/p>\n
He says voters don\u2019t care about his controversies.<\/p>\n
\u201cGenuinely I\u2019ve never had a voter come up to me and complain about my language, because voters are not considered about my vote choice, they\u2019re considered about how they\u2019re gonna pay their electricity bill,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
The Republican primary election is set for Aug. 18, with the winner facing the Democratic nominee on Nov. 3. <\/p>\n
