{"id":361688,"date":"2026-08-03T16:46:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T16:46:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/361688\/"},"modified":"2026-08-03T16:46:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T16:46:08","slug":"video-shows-lightning-strike-sparking-blaze-in-fort-lauderdale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/361688\/","title":{"rendered":"Video shows lightning strike sparking blaze in Fort Lauderdale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0August 3, 2026 at 12:23 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. \u2014 Cellphone video showed a lightning strike starting a fire in a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood early Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It happened just after 2 a.m. within the Villa Medici Townhomes, located in the 1000 block of Northeast 17th Avenue in the city\u2019s Lake Ridge neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The video shows the lightning striking a power line, sparking the blaze, which was quickly put out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cBolts of lightning were hitting all around. All of a sudden, you could hear that it hit something really close by, and you could hear the sizzling. When I looked out my door, I saw that it was across the street from me,\u201d a resident, who identified herself as Terri, said. \u201cYou saw the orange sparks flying all over the place for a while, and then you\u2019d see the flames, and you\u2019d hear more pops going into it as it fed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">None of the buildings caught fire but they did lose power.
