Orlando Dreamers unveil new stadium renderings ahead of $975M TDT request<\/p>\n

The Orlando Dreamers, the group leading the effort to bring a Major League Baseball expansion team to Orlando, unveiled updated stadium renderings ahead of Wednesday’s Orange County Tourist Development Tax Citizen Advisory Task Force meeting.<\/p>\n

The updated design, created by architecture firm Populous, includes about 10 revisions. The Dreamers plan to ask the advisory task force to recommend approval of $975 million in Tourist Development Tax funds to help finance the more than $2 billion mixed-use development, which would include a stadium, three hotel towers and other attractions on a site north of Aquatica and south of State Road 528.<\/p>\n

“The Orlando Dreamers’ plan is the only strategy that will dedicate hundreds of millions of dollars generated by on-site revenues over 30 years to community priorities like transportation improvements, workforce housing, affordability, public safety and other critical needs,” Andrew Herdliska, the Dreamers’ chief marketing officer, told WESH 2.<\/p>\n

“Everyone involved with the Dreamers either grew up here or calls Orlando home,” he added. “We are listening to the conversation and want to do our part to help make Orlando the No. 1 city in America to live.”<\/p>\n

According to a team spokesperson, the Dreamers have secured more than $2 billion on the baseball side of the project for stadium construction and team acquisition. He said the group plans to make the largest private investment in a publicly owned stadium in Major League Baseball history.<\/p>\n

Plans call for a mixed-use development that extends beyond the stadium, featuring three hotel towers with approximately 1,000 rooms, Class A office space, a museum, a multipurpose events center, restaurants, retail space and other hospitality offerings.<\/p>\n

Developers say the complex is designed to serve as a year-round tourist destination.<\/p>\n

The Deamers say Major League Baseball is expected to begin reviewing competitive expansion bids from cities in 2027.<\/p>\n
