How one person\u2019s body looks isn\u2019t always an indicator of their health. It\u2019s often considered improper to comment on somebody\u2019s weight. But Olivia Ren (@oliiviaren) said that while she was lining up for Twistee Treat at St. Pete Beach in Florida, a bunch of girls allegedly mocked her body.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was fat-shamed and laughed at by teenage girls at an ice cream shop tonight, and it has ruined my day,\u201d Olivia said on TikTok.<\/a> It was a special day for Olivia because she doesn\u2019t get to see her cousins often. Since their time together is short, Olivia decided to take them out for ice cream.<\/p>\n She went in, and there was a group of girls behind her. Judging from their looks, Olivia assumed that they were either high school seniors or college freshmen. Paying no mind to them, she got a Typhoon from the Twistee Treat\u2014a soft-serve ice cream that is blended with a customer\u2019s topping of choice. But upon receiving it, she realized that she was given too much ice cream.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not going to be able to finish all of this,\u201d Olivia said about the ice cream. It seems like a good problem to have. Some people complain about the shrunken proportions from Cheesecake Factory,<\/a> but Olivia seems to be suffering from the opposite.<\/p>\n But Olivia\u2019s day was ruined after the girl behind her made a snarky comment.<\/p>\n \u201cYeah, you can,\u201d a girl, who was wearing a blue sports bra, allegedly told Olivia. She further claimed that the girl\u2019s friends burst into laughter not long after. They found the insult to be so hilarious that Olivia said that one of the girls supposedly ran up to the girl, trying to console her from laughing too hard.<\/p>\n Did she fight those girls at Twistee Treat? <\/p>\n Olivia stepped aside and went to the other window, as instructed by the employee. But she was uncomfortably glancing back at the group of girls. They were supposedly still laughing at this point, amused by their snide remark.<\/p>\n \u201cDo I want to speak up and choose to say something in front of children?\u201d Olivia asked herself, clearly conflicted with what to do. Even though she was hurt by the encounter, Olivia restrained herself because the girls seemed younger than her. Moreover, she also had her younger cousins with her. But eventually, Olivia confronted the girls.<\/p>\n \u201cDid you really just say that?\u201d She asked, and the girl who made the comment started profusely apologizing. But at the same time, Olivia alleged that the girl started denying that she made an offensive comment.<\/p>\n \u201cYou should be a lot kinder to people. That\u2019s not okay,\u201d she said, then walked away.<\/p>\n It doesn\u2019t cost anything to be kind <\/p>\n \u201cYou have no clue who I am,\u201d she continued. Olivia started talking about how much of a struggle losing weight has been for her. She said that she has already lost 100 lbs but still struggles with food.<\/p>\n \u201cI know I walk around and people are thinking that I\u2019m huge, and I think it too, but I have to live with myself,\u201d Olivia tearfully said. Another content creator opened up about an equally cruel experience she had as a bigger woman, who was mocked by a table of men at a bar for her size.<\/a> Like Olivia, she too is struggling to lose weight. But the additional offhanded remarks have made the experience of being a plus-sized person unbearable.<\/p>\n \u201cI really hope you get what\u2019s coming to you,\u201d Olivia commented.
