JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – A Red Wolf is on the move on the MLB Trade Deadline.<\/p>\n

ESPN was first to report<\/a> that Liam Hicks was traded from the Marlins to the Rays. Tampa Bay made the move official Monday afternoon. The Arkansas State alum is having a career season in Miami, batting .282 with 14 home runs and 62 RBI. He had 5 hits and 2 ribbies this past weekend against the Mets. Hicks had a 12 game hitting streak spanning June 9th to July 1st.<\/p>\n

The Tampa Bay Rays have acquired C Liam Hicks from the Miami Marlins in exchange for RHP Jacob Kisting, INF Adrian Santana, and INF Brayden Taylor.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s shown his versatilty in 2026, penciled in the lineup as a catcher, first baseman, and designated hitter. Hicks joins a Rays squad that\u2019s currently in 1st place in the American League east.<\/p>\n

The Canadian was selected by Miami in the 2024 MLB Rule 5 Draft. He got on the MLB radar after a breakout campaign in the 2023 Arizona Fall League. Hicks led the league with a .449 batting average, was 3rd with 31 hits and a 1.075 OPS. The Red Wolf was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 9th round of the 2021 MLB Draft. Hicks is top 10 in Arkansas State history with a career .340 batting average.<\/p>\n
