The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed on Monday that an EF0 tornado touched down east of New Lebanon on Saturday. <\/p>\n
The tornado first developed near Germantown Liberty Road, south of Forney Road, where corn fields were damaged. <\/p>\n
The Tornado then moved north on Snyder Road until reaching US-35. <\/p>\n
David Crane lives on Snyder Road. <\/p>\n
\u201cStuff got really crazy, and I got down and grabbed my cat and held her, and then it passed,\u201d Crane said. <\/p>\n
He was home as the tornado barrelled through. <\/p>\n
\u201cMy next thought was just to kind of peek out and see the extent of the damage,\u201d Crane said. <\/p>\n
Confirming a tornado takes more than damage on the ground, Andy Hatzos, meteorologist with the NWS, said. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe also used radar data from our office in Wilmington, as well as the FAA radar that serves the Dayton airport. Use that information to determine that there is rotation,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
Damage was also reported north of US-35 in Montgomery County. <\/p>\n
Another tornado touched down northwest of Eaton in Preble County on Saturday evening. <\/p>\n
Lydia Michael\u2019s Preble County home was devastated by the twister. <\/p>\n
She showed us where the ceiling caved in and the mess she and her family are left to deal with. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe lost everything, my goodness. Except the back of the house so far. And the kitchen,\u201d Michael said. <\/p>\n
Her front yard was also destroyed. <\/p>\n
She said sorting through the next steps has been overwhelming. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s getting all the phone calls in, talking to all the people, getting it all done, and it\u2019s hard,\u201d Michael said. <\/p>\n
She sheltered in the bathtub with her daughter and granddaughter. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we did was cry our eyes out, but yes, we also prayed to God and God got us through, and here we are,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
The National Weather Service has not confirmed the strength of the Preble County tornado. <\/p>\n
