Fourth arrest made in death of 3-month-old child, St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office says<\/p>\n

A fourth arrest has been made in the death of a 3-month-old child in St. Lucie County. Authorities say the infant’s biological father was arrested in Virginia and faces a felony child neglect charge as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n

A fourth person has been arrested in connection with the death of a 3-month-old child following an investigation by the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n

According to investigators, 45-year-old Jason Gunter, the child’s biological father, was taken into custody Tuesday, Aug. 4, by the U.S. Marshals Service at his home in Mechanicsville, Virginia. The arrest was made on an outstanding warrant obtained by St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office detectives.<\/p>\n

Gunter is charged with felony child neglect causing great bodily harm for his alleged role in the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death.<\/p>\n

Authorities said Gunter is awaiting extradition to St. Lucie County, where he will face the charge.<\/p>\n

The arrest marks the fourth made as part of the sheriff’s office’s investigation into the child’s death.<\/p>\n

“The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to conducting thorough investigations, holding those responsible accountable under the law, and seeking justice for victims and their families,” the agency said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Officials said the investigation remains active as the case moves through the judicial process.
