Florida Sheriffs Association raises concerns over property tax amendment<\/p>\n

The Florida Sheriff’s Association is voicing concerns about a proposed property tax amendment, warning it could impact public safety services and police response times. <\/p>\n

In a statement, the organization said it is “significantly concerned” that the proposal will lead to longer police response times and limit public safety services. <\/p>\n

The Florida Sheriffs Association joined the Florida Fire Chiefs\u2019 Association, the Florida Professional Firefighters and the Florida State Fraternal Order of Police who have expressed opposition to the property tax amendment in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

The proposal would increase Florida’s homestead exemption from $50,000 to $250,000 starting in 2028. <\/p>\n

The increased tax cut could result in local governments losing $8 billion in revenue across the state. <\/p>\n

To pass, the amendment must be approved by 60% of voters on the ballot in November.<\/p>\n
