At the same time, officers were dispatched to Ortega Park Boulevard, less than a mile away, where they located a fourth victim connected to the same shooting.<\/p>\n
All four victims are between 17 and 20 years old. As of Monday, JSO had not released information on their conditions. The sheriff’s office said investigators do not believe the victims knew the person who shot them.<\/p>\n
The gunfire also hit at least one nearby apartment.<\/p>\n
A woman who lives in the Woods of Ortega apartment complex, and asked not to be identified for safety reasons, said she returned home to find bullet holes in her front door, bullet fragments scattered inside her apartment and a shell casing near the entrance.<\/p>\n
“It’s a little scary because I just moved out here and my child,” she said. “I didn’t want anything to happen to either one of us, so I’m glad we weren’t home.”<\/p>\n
Despite the shooting, the woman said she still considers the community a safe place to live and does not plan to move. Instead, she hopes the incident serves as a reminder for parents to pay closer attention to their children and teenagers.<\/p>\n
“I just feel like this younger generation needs to be monitored more, but it’s not going to deter me from living out here,” she said. “It’s so quiet since I’ve been out here. My baby loves it and I love it.”<\/p>\n
Longtime residents said the shooting was unlike anything they have experienced in the neighborhood.<\/p>\n
“Quiet and peaceful, never had no problems in 11 years I’ve been living here,” resident Grantley Curtain said. “I was more than shocked.”<\/p>\n
Another resident, Michael Jones, described the complex as “a nice neighborhood because I’ve never seen any violence.”<\/p>\n
Investigators continue interviewing witnesses and searching for surveillance video as they work to identify the suspect or suspects.<\/p>\n
