{"id":363735,"date":"2026-08-05T21:16:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T21:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/363735\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T21:16:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T21:16:09","slug":"man-arrested-after-being-found-asleep-aboard-a-jetblue-plane-receiving-maintanance-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/363735\/","title":{"rendered":"Man arrested after being found asleep aboard a JetBlue plane receiving maintanance service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0August 5, 2026 at 4:44 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.  \u2014 Police have made an arrest in a case of a sleepy stowaway on a JetBlue flight. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to authorities, Samuel Lackey was found Sunday sleeping on board a JetBlue 2012 AirBus A320 that was at Jetscape Services in Fort Lauderdale for maintenance. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office officials said the criminal\u2019s actions were all caught on camera. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Deputies said it was easy for Lackey to get on to the plane because there were portable steps he could use, and maintenance was being done on the plane. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to law enforcement, Lackey climbed a fence to gain access to the airplane and snuck onto the aircraft on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">As a result, there was a service interruption as the plane was scheduled for a flight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Deputies said the doors to the plane were locked and the aircraft was pushed back to a parking space, and that\u2019s when the alleged snooze took place until 5:39 a.m. Sunday, when JetBlue employees arrived and gave Lackey a startling wake-up call. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">As of Wednesday afternoon, Lackey was being held at the Broward Main Jail on charges of unarmed burglary of an occupied conveyance, criminal mischief over $1000 and interrupting or impairing critical infrastructure on a total bond of $10,000. <\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udfe0 News From Your Neighborhood<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body__copyright\">Copyright 2026 by WPLG Local10.com &#8211; All rights reserved.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Rosh Lowe\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/https:\/\/author-service-images-sandbox-us-east-1.publishing.aws.arc.pub\/wplginc\/d69633d3-fc9a-4bb5-94.jpeg\"  width=\"100\" height=\"100\"\/>Rosh Lowe<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-author-bio__author-description\">Reporter Rosh Lowe has been covering news for nearly two decades in South Florida.
