JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 As we approach the one-year mark of a young man\u2019s shooting death on the Northside, his older sister is still searching for answers.<\/p>\n
Myeshia Hamilton wants to know why her brother, 21-year-old Bradrick Anthony Butler Jr. was murdered. The high school graduate and aspiring YouTube influencer\u2019s murder case remains unsolved.<\/p>\n
Hamilton wants his name remembered as more than just another young black man killed in the streets of Jacksonville.<\/p>\n
>>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<<<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cNow what kind of person was your brother because from the description that you give me he was not involved in anything,\u201d asked Action News Jax\u2019s Zion Decoteau. <\/p>\n \u201cHe was not involved in anything; he was a YouTuber,\u201d Hamilton replied. <\/p>\n \u201cHe worked for a roofing company…Now he did love the ladies, so I don\u2019t know if that had something to do with it,\u201d Hamilton continued. <\/p>\n Hamilton says Butler Jr. \u201cBJ\u201d was at his house, with his best friend on August 8th, 2025. He was leaving the home as he planned to meet up with someone.<\/p>\n \u201cYes, his Friday routine where he\u2019ll go get Jamaican food, come home, stay home.\u201d<\/p>\n Hamilton says she thinks her brother broke his routine to meet up with this unknown person. <\/p>\n [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/a>]<\/p>\n \u201cMy mom noticed he hasn\u2019t been home in a while. My mom talks to his best friend like, hey can you go find your brother,\u201d Hamilton recounted. \u201cHis friend has his location, so he went to his location, and saw him lying outside his car,\u201d Hamilton added. <\/p>\n The Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office says they discovered Butler\u2019s body at Fitzgerald Street off Leland Street in Lackawanna.<\/p>\n Hamilton tells Action News Jax her brother was pronounced dead at the scene. Police took his friends in for questioning; they were later released.<\/p>\n To this day, BJ\u2019s case is not cleared. JSO tells us there are no new leads or arrests in this case.<\/p>\n \u201cFaithfully for a year I\u2019ve been calling once a week to get updates on his case,\u201d said Hamilton. <\/p>\n [SIGN UP: Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter<\/a>] <\/p>\n \u201cWhat would inspire someone to hate your brother so much to take his life?\u201d asked our Zion Decoteau. <\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s the same question that I have,\u201d Hamilton answered. \u201cEveryone knows him, sees how tiny he is. He wouldn\u2019t hurt anyone,\u201d she continued. <\/p>\n Hamilton says her extended family is still not doing well nearly a year later. They just want answers about Butler Jr\u2019s death.<\/p>\n \u201cThis happened out of nowhere. No problems with anyone. Not that we know of.
