{"id":364439,"date":"2026-08-06T16:15:03","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T16:15:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/364439\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T16:15:03","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T16:15:03","slug":"coral-gables-woman-pleads-guilty-after-posing-as-ice-legal-administrative-specialist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/364439\/","title":{"rendered":"Coral Gables woman pleads guilty after posing as ICE legal administrative specialist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0August 5, 2026 at 1:52 PM<\/p>\n<p>lead-art-block.fullscreen-enterExpand<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/NGR3GCUQHBEYRFMK76FG7RGGVA.jpeg\"  width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI \u2014 A Coral Gables woman charged migrants hundreds of dollars, as she pretended to be a federal government employee to influence their immigration court cases, according to federal prosecutors. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Ana Linares pleaded guilty to a federal charge of falsely impersonating a federal officer or employee, the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office in the Southern District of Florida <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-sdfl\/pr\/coral-gables-woman-pleads-guilty-impersonating-federal-immigration-official-dismiss\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-sdfl\/pr\/coral-gables-woman-pleads-guilty-impersonating-federal-immigration-official-dismiss\">announced<\/a> on Monday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In court filings, Linares, 45, \u201cpretended\u201d to be a U.S. Department of Homeland Security official \u201cto obtain the unlawful dismissal of removal proceedings,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-sdfl\/pr\/coral-gables-woman-pleads-guilty-impersonating-federal-immigration-official-dismiss\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-sdfl\/pr\/coral-gables-woman-pleads-guilty-impersonating-federal-immigration-official-dismiss\">according<\/a> to U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Qui\u00f1ones.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThis was a brazen effort to corrupt lawful removal proceedings, and our Office will prosecute those who use fraud to undermine the integrity of our immigration system,\u201d Reding Qui\u00f1ones said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In 2024, Linares signed four DHS motions as a \u201cLegal Administrative Specialist, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement\u201d seeking \u201cto invoke prosecutorial discretion authority reserved by Department attorneys and employees,\u201d according to prosecutors. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Linares faced a maximum sentence of three years in federal prison.
