TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Three people, including a 16-year-old, have been arrested in connection to what Tallahassee Police called \u201ca series of smash-and-grab burglaries targeting local smoke shops.\u201d<\/p>\n
The trio of arrests brought an end to \u201ca nearly month-long burglary spree that spanned multiple locations\u201d across the capital city, the police department wrote in a press release Thursday.<\/p>\n
Authorities said 21-year-old Zyah Geter, 19-year-old Antwaniya Winchester and a 16-year-old were all taken into custody in connection to the spree that began on July 8. <\/p>\n
The 21-year-old and 19-year-old both face charges of attempted unarmed burglary of an occupied structure, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and petit theft, officers said.<\/p>\n
The 16-year-old suspect faces numerous charges, including unarmed burglary of an unoccupied structure, armed burglary of an unoccupied structure, attempted armed burglary of an unoccupied structure, criminal mischief and seven counts of petit theft.<\/p>\n
The police statement went on to reveal that beginning July 8, detectives investigated seven smash-and-grab-style burglaries throughout Tallahassee, with the most recent occurring on Aug. 2.<\/p>\n

Authorities determined that in each case, the suspects allegedly used a large object to shatter the business\u2019 front glass door, just before targeting the cash register and fleeing in less than three minutes, according to officers.<\/p>\n
An investigation later revealed that all seven incidents were connected.<\/p>\n
As the investigation continued, police said detectives collected evidence and quickly identified the primary suspect as well as the vehicle believed to have been used during the burglary spree.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, authorities determined that during several of the burglaries, the suspect was armed with a firearm while unlawfully entering the businesses, according to the police statement.<\/p>\n
Eventually, the investigation led detectives to identify and locate all of the suspects involved in the spree. Through collected evidence, detectives also linked the suspects to the series of burglaries and recovered a firearm believed to have been used during the burglaries, officers said.<\/p>\n
All three suspects were taken into custody without incident.<\/p>\n
