The home is in the Emerald Dunes Golf Club community.

Once inside the home, deputies observed the 18-year-old holding a knife and engaged in a violet struggle with his father. According to Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, who held a press conference near the scene, deputies first tried using a taser to break up the fight but it did not function properly. When it appeared that the son was about to stab his father, a deputy opened fire.

The 18-year-old died. Two deputies have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation, which is standard procedure in deputy-involved shootings.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.

Stay up to date: The latest headlines and weather from WPBF 25

Get the latest news updates with the WPBF 25 News app. You can download it here.

Your neighborhood: Local coverage from WPBF 25 News

Palm Beach County deputies shoot and kill 18-year-old engaged in violent struggle with his father PALM BEACH COUNTY,…

[12
171,173,172
post-364774","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-port-st-lucie","tag-port-st-lucie","tag-port-st-lucie-headlines","tag-port-st-lucie-news
["GET
