Purchases increased from 4,000 to 5,300 properties.

Miami-Dade accounted for 73% of those South Florida international transactions and approximately $3.2 billion in sales. About 45% of Florida’s international home purchases occurred in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach market.

The two studies cover different periods and populations, but together they suggest South Florida continued to attract international capital even as foreign buying slowed nationally.

Canada returned as the leading source of foreign buyers nationwide, accounting for 16% of purchases. Mexico followed with 14%, while China ranked third with 11%.

Chinese buyers, however, spent the most, $7.6 billion, with an average purchase price of approximately $1 million. In South Florida, Colombia and Argentina were the largest sources of international buyers.

Nearly half of foreign buyers nationwide, 48%, paid cash, compared with 28% of all existing-home buyers.

NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun said the decline mirrored a reduction in international visitors. High home prices, limited inventory, immigration concerns and geopolitical uncertainty also caused some buyers to delay purchases, according to Realtors surveyed for the report.

Even a slightly weaker U.S. dollar, which increased buying power for some international purchasers, was not enough to reverse the national decline.

Foreign buyers purchased fewer U.S. homes and spent nearly $11 billion less than a year earlier, but Florida,…

[15
35094,148389,148391,148390,148383,148384,225,227,226,148387,148385,126,1730,123,148382,148386,948,53773,148388,875
post-365533","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-hialeah","tag-brickell-real-estate","tag-cash-homebuyers","tag-cash-homebuyers-key-biscayne","tag-cash-homebuyers-miami","tag-florida-foreign-homebuyers","tag-florida-foreign-homebuyers-miami","tag-hialeah","tag-hialeah-headlines","tag-hialeah-news","tag-international-home-sales","tag-international-real-estate-buyers","tag-key-biscayne","tag-key-biscayne-real-estate","tag-miami","tag-miami-home-buyers","tag-miami-international-real-estate-buyers","tag-miami-real-estate","tag-miami-dade-real-estate","tag-nar-foreign-buyer-report","tag-south-florida-real-estate
["GET
