MIAMI \u2014 Two of South Florida\u2019s highest-profile murder suspects, Daisy Link<\/a> and Dr. Neha Gupta<\/a>, are at the center of an ongoing dispute in jail, according to a court filing. Now Gupta wants to be separated from Link, who\u2019s accused of beating up the Oklahoma pediatrician<\/a> behind bars.<\/p>\n

Link, 31, of Homestead, has been in Miami-Dade County\u2019s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center since 2022. In 2025, she was convicted<\/a> of killing her longtime partner \u2015 but that was later overturned and she awaits a new murder trial. <\/p>\n

Accused killer Neha Gupta seeks jail separation from fellow murder suspect Daisy Link <\/p>\n

Her alleged crime isn\u2019t what made international headlines, though: Instead, it was the fact that she managed to get pregnant<\/a> by a fellow inmate while locked up at TGK. The two had hatched a plan to pass encased semen through an air vent.<\/p>\n

Gupta, 37, of Oklahoma City, has been locked up at TGK since July 2025. She\u2019s accused of killing<\/a> her 4-year-old daughter and staging her drowning at a vacation rental home in El Portal the month prior while visiting from the Sooner State. She faces a second-degree murder charge.<\/p>\n

In January, authorities said Link attacked Gupta, punching her multiple times in the head and face and pulling her hair. <\/p>\n

Gupta appeared in a Miami courtroom on Wednesday after her attorneys filed an emergency motion for separation order.<\/p>\n

Her attorneys said Link had been moved from their shared TGK housing unit but was later returned to it in June.<\/p>\n

In July, Link approached Gupta\u2019s cell door and \u201cbegan banging aggressively and yelling \u2018I am going to kill you,\u2019\u201d according to the filing.<\/p>\n

On July 20, there was \u201canother incident\u201d involving the two, according to the court filing, and four days later an associate of Link attacked Gupta.<\/p>\n

A Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation official testified that Link \u201cis on the bottom tier of the unit\u201d and \u201cis not allowed out of her cell at the same time as\u201d Gupta.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo this is the best we can do at this time,\u201d the official testified.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the judge stopped short of demanding any action.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe court does not have the authority to grant the motion at this time for a keep separate order,\u201d Judge Zachary James said. \u201cI would again recommend that (the) corrections (department) stay on top of this issue, which they have been doing, to ensure that they are separated.\u201d<\/p>\n
