A frightening case of highway road rage in Florida<\/a> was recently caught entirely on dashcam<\/a>, highlighting just how quickly traffic disputes can escalate into life-threatening situations. But while the suspect thought he had a clever plan to evade law enforcement after brandishing a weapon, modern tracking and inter-agency police<\/a> work quickly proved him wrong.<\/p>\n

According to a recent broadcast by 10 Tampa Bay News<\/a>, the Hillsborough County Sheriff\u2019s Office has officially apprehended a suspect following a terrifying encounter on Interstate 75.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred during the evening commute on Wednesday, July 29th. According to local news reports, the chaotic scene unfolded in heavy traffic on I-75 southbound near the US-301 exit.<\/p>\n

Footage of the encounter was captured by the victim\u2019s dashboard camera. \u201cRoad rage caught on camera we just got a hold of dash cam video from an incident that happened on Interstate 75,\u201d the news anchor reported.<\/p>\n

In the video, a white Chevrolet<\/a> SUV can be seen pulling up aggressively alongside the victim\u2019s vehicle. \u201cDeputies say you were watching Jordan Patasher threatening another driver and then he pulls out a gun right here,\u201d the broadcast noted as the footage showed the suspect holding a black handgun out of the driver\u2019s<\/a> side window and pointing it directly at the victim\u2019s car.<\/p>\n

The high-stress encounter ended without any shots being fired, and the suspect sped off into the flow of traffic.<\/p>\n

A Failed Escape Plan<\/p>\n

Knowing that the other driver likely had his vehicle and license plate information, the suspect\u2014identified by public records as 29-year-old Jordan Patascher\u2014attempted to cover his tracks.<\/p>\n

According to investigators reviewing the case, the suspect drove away and immediately altered the appearance of his SUV<\/a>. \u201cAfter this happened, Patascher switched his license plate to avoid being identified,\u201d the news anchor explained.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for Patascher, swapping plates is rarely enough to fool modern law enforcement. The Hillsborough County Sheriff\u2019s Office launched an investigation, utilizing the clear dashcam footage to identify the suspect. Two days after the encounter, on July 31st, Patascher was successfully tracked down and arrested by the neighboring Pasco County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Because the suspect already had a criminal record, the consequences for the highway dispute are exceptionally severe. \u201cDeputies eventually found him, and they charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and driving while his license was revoked,\u201d the broadcast confirmed.<\/p>\n

Additional arrest records show that his suspended license charge also carries a \u201cHabitual Offender\u201d enhancement.
