Cities were ranked by their average temperature across June, July and August, using weather observations from the five summers between 2020 and 2024.

The research also looked at humidity, rainfall, wind and clear-sky conditions. While these factors did not affect the ranking, they show how similar temperatures can feel very different once moisture, rain and wind are taken into account.

The hottest cities in Florida during summer

RankCityAverage temperatureHumidityClear skyRainfallWind1Miami84.2°F74.3%45.1%0.306 in/day7.1 mph2Tampa83.5°F76.3%77.3%0.212 in/day5.6 mph3North Port83.3°F81.6%89.1%0.386 in/day7.8 mph4Naples82.9°F80.0%89.4%0.254 in/day6.8 mph=5Cape Coral82.8°F77.3%89.6%0.333 in/day6.0 mph=5Pensacola82.8°F74.7%89.7%0.293 in/day7.0 mph=5Orlando82.8°F74.8%88.9%0.269 in/day6.5 mph6Jacksonville82.4°F75.8%68.0%0.237 in/day8.1 mph7Panama City82.0°F77.4%83.3%0.288 in/day7.3 mph=8Palm Bay81.9°F78.8%88.8%0.189 in/day7.9 mph=8Sebastian81.9°F79.0%86.5%0.219 in/day7.2 mph9Deltona81.7°F76.9%89.8%0.212 in/day6.6 mph10Tallahassee81.5°F76.6%70.2%0.231 in/day4.9 mph

Miami leads the ranking with an average summer temperature of 84.2°F. The South Florida city also records humidity of 74.3% and receives an average of 0.306 inches of rain per day, creating warm and moisture-heavy conditions throughout June, July and August.

Interestingly, Miami has the lowest clear-sky percentage among the leading cities, at 45.1%. This suggests that cloudier and wetter conditions do not necessarily prevent the city from maintaining Florida’s highest average summer temperature.

Tampa follows in second place with an average temperature of 83.5°F. Its humidity is slightly higher than Miami’s at 76.3%, although rainfall is lower at 0.212 inches per day.

Average winds in Tampa reach just 5.6 mph, meaning residents and visitors may receive less relief from breezier conditions than in many other Florida cities. The city’s clear-sky percentage stands at 77.3%, considerably above Miami’s figure.

North Port ranks third at 83.3°F and stands out for the combination of heat, humidity and rainfall. Humidity averages 81.6%, tied for the highest level among all Florida cities included in the study.

The city also receives an average of 0.386 inches of rain per day, more than anywhere else in the Florida ranking. Despite this, its clear-sky percentage remains high at 89.1%, showing how sunshine and substantial summer rainfall can occur alongside each other.

Naples places fourth with an average temperature of 82.9°F. Its humidity level reaches 80%, making it another South Florida location where the temperature alone may not fully capture how demanding the conditions can feel.

The city receives 0.254 inches of rainfall per day and records a clear-sky percentage of 89.4%. Average winds of 6.8 mph may provide some movement in the air, but conditions remain both hot and humid.

Cape Coral, Pensacola, and Orlando share fifth position, with all three cities recording an average summer temperature of 82.8°F. However, the supporting weather figures reveal some clear differences between them.

Cape Coral is the most humid of the three at 77.3% and receives the most rain, averaging 0.333 inches per day. Pensacola has the lowest humidity at 74.7% and slightly stronger winds of 7 mph, while Orlando sits between the two with 74.8% humidity and 0.269 inches of rainfall per day.

Pensacola also records a clear-sky percentage of 89.7%, slightly ahead of Cape Coral at 89.6% and Orlando at 88.9%. The three cities may share the same temperature ranking, but their rainfall and coastal conditions could produce noticeably different summer experiences.

Jacksonville ranks sixth with an average temperature of 82.4°F. It records the strongest winds among Florida’s 10 hottest positions, averaging 8.1 mph, which may provide slightly more relief than in cities such as Tampa or Tallahassee.

The city has humidity of 75.8% and receives 0.237 inches of rain per day. Its clear-sky percentage of 68% is also considerably lower than most other cities in the top 10.

Panama City follows in seventh place at 82°F. Humidity averages 77.4%, while rainfall reaches 0.288 inches per day, placing it among the wetter cities near the top of the ranking. Average winds of 7.3 mph are stronger than in Tampa, Orlando and Naples. Its clear-sky percentage stands at 83.3%, lower than the figures recorded in North Port, Cape Coral and Pensacola.

Palm Bay and Sebastian share eighth position, with both averaging 81.9°F. Sebastian is slightly more humid at 79%, compared with 78.8% in Palm Bay, but Palm Bay receives less rain at 0.189 inches per day. Palm Bay also records stronger average winds of 7.9 mph, compared with 7.2 mph in Sebastian. Both cities have high clear-sky percentages, at 88.8% and 86.5% respectively.

Deltona ranks ninth with an average summer temperature of 81.7°F. The city records 76.9% humidity and 0.212 inches of rain per day, the same rainfall figure as Tampa despite sitting almost two degrees lower in the temperature ranking.

Its clear-sky percentage reaches 89.8%, the highest among the cities in Florida’s top 10 positions. Average winds stand at 6.6 mph.

Tallahassee completes the top ten with an average summer temperature of 81.5°F. Florida’s capital records humidity of 76.6% and receives 0.231 inches of rainfall per day. It also has the lightest winds in the top 10, averaging just 4.9 mph. With a clear-sky percentage of 70.2%, its summer conditions are cloudier than in most of the coastal cities immediately above it.

Hardy Heberle, CMO at Winz Casino, says: “What stands out is how close many of Florida’s hottest cities are in temperature. There is less than three degrees between Miami in first place and Tallahassee in 10th, but the humidity, rainfall and wind figures show that the experience can still vary considerably.

“Miami may lead the temperature ranking, but North Port arguably has one of the most demanding combinations of conditions. It has some of the highest temperatures, the joint-highest humidity and more average daily rainfall than any other Florida city in the study.

“The three cities sharing fifth place are another good example. Cape Coral, Pensacola and Orlando all average exactly 82.8°F, yet Cape Coral receives more rain, Pensacola is slightly less humid and Orlando has lighter winds. The temperature is only one part of the picture.

“Florida’s rainfall can also be misleading for visitors. A city may receive regular summer rain and still record a very high clear-sky percentage, as North Port and Cape Coral demonstrate. Heavy showers can arrive quickly without making the rest of the day feel particularly cool.

“For residents and visitors, the practical point is to consider humidity and rain alongside the temperature. A reading in the low 80s may sound manageable, but high moisture levels can make a long day outdoors feel much more tiring.

“And anyone spending a day sightseeing, visiting the beach or drinking alcohol should make water and shade part of the plan. It is much easier to stay comfortable when you take regular breaks rather than waiting until the heat has already become exhausting.”

Methodology

Winz Casino analyzed 22 metropolitan areas across Florida to identify the cities recording the highest average temperatures during summer.

Summer was defined as June, July and August. Temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind and clear-sky figures were calculated using hourly surface-station observations from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Integrated Surface Database.

Each metropolitan area was matched to its nearest suitable weather station, located a median distance of approximately 4.3 miles away across the wider dataset.

Weather observations were averaged across the five most recent complete meteorological summers, covering June to August 2020 through 2024.

Humidity was calculated using temperature and dew-point observations. Rainfall represents average daily precipitation in inches during the summer period, while wind represents average wind speed in miles per hour.

Sunshine is shown as the percentage of clear sky derived from station sky-cover observations. US automated weather stations generally record sky cover rather than traditional sunshine duration.

Cities were ranked only by their average summer temperature. Where multiple cities recorded the same temperature, they were given the same position, and the next unique temperature received the following rank without any positions being skipped.

Full ranking: Florida’s hottest cities during summer

RankCityAverage temperature1Miami84.2°F2Tampa83.5°F3North Port83.3°F4Naples82.9°F=5Cape Coral82.8°F=5Pensacola82.8°F=5Orlando82.8°F6Jacksonville82.4°F7Panama City82.0°F=8Palm Bay81.9°F=8Sebastian81.9°F9Deltona81.7°F10Tallahassee81.5°F=11Sebring81.1°F=11Lakeland81.1°F=11Port St. Lucie81.1°F12Palatka81.0°F13Ocala80.8°F=14Homosassa Springs80.4°F=14Crestview80.4°F=15Lake City80.1°F=15Gainesville80.1°F

Source: https://winz.io/

Related

Boca Raton, FL — August 09, 2026 — Florida may be known for year-round sunshine, but summer conditions…

[15
225,227,226
post-366909","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-hialeah","tag-hialeah","tag-hialeah-headlines","tag-hialeah-news
["GET
