{"id":367144,"date":"2026-08-10T01:20:27","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T01:20:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/367144\/"},"modified":"2026-08-10T01:20:27","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T01:20:27","slug":"delta-flight-from-atlanta-to-orlando-evacuated-on-taxiway-after-fumes-reported-in-cockpit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/367144\/","title":{"rendered":"Delta flight from Atlanta to Orlando evacuated on taxiway after fumes reported in cockpit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nearly 200 passengers were evacuated from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/atlanta\/tag\/delta-air-lines\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Delta Air Lines<\/a> flight Saturday after the plane returned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/tag\/hartsfield-jackson-atlanta-international-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport<\/a> following reports of fumes in the flight deck.<\/p>\n<p>Delta Flight 2204 was traveling from Atlanta to Orlando on Aug. 8 with 199 passengers and six crew members aboard, according to the airline. The flight was operating on a Boeing 757.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after takeoff, the flight crew declared an emergency and returned to Atlanta, Delta said.<\/p>\n<p>First responders met the aircraft on a taxiway, where passengers and crew evacuated using the plane&#8217;s emergency slides. They were then transported by bus to the terminal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The flight crew followed procedures to return to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after reports of fumes in the flight deck,&#8221; a Delta spokesperson said. &#8220;A slide evacuation occurred on a taxiway, and customers are being reaccommodated on a new aircraft.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Delta apologized to passengers for the disruption, adding that &#8220;safety is paramount.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The airline said passengers would be placed on another flight to Orlando.
